Uptime

The premium uptime monitor I use indicated that my website stayed up without issue for the majority of my yearlong stay. I did have one month where my service fell below MyHosting’s 100% uptime guarantee. When I approached MyHosting and asked for a refund for the month, I was told they only offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee, despite their website indicating otherwise. Uptime was generally good, but the uptime policy is confusing at best.

Customer support from MyHosting is available by telephone, email and live chat. Live chat response times are excellent, most commonly taking less than one minute to connect. I found the live chat support to be top-notch and helpful. Telephone support takes approximately ten minutes to answer and was less impressive. Most often, I was shuffled from support rep to support rep, and then told to file an email or support ticket. Unfortunately, email support was downright terrible. It took days, and sometimes more than a week, to get an answer from support this way and more often than not, my issues were never resolved by email.

I purchased a shared web hosting account from MyHosting.com. The sign-up process itself is as simple as filling out an online form. It took one hour to receive an invoice from MyHosting.com and about the same time for my account to be ready for use. Not as speedy as some hosts, but definitely smooth.

My yearlong stay with MyHosting was a pleasant one overall. There were no hardware issues to speak of, though my website’s database would sporadically stop working. Each time, MyHosting support attributed the problem to server overload and promised to fix it. It never really resolved during my stay. On the plus side, email was rock solid and my general uptime was good.
