One of the worst hosting company

Disadvantages: Not reliable Abusive Bad customer service
Verdict: We have been one of their customer for several years. They have decided to disconnect our server without valid reason. SoftLayer are totally abusive with their customer. They send agressive message to them and do abusive server disconnection. Very bad customer service. They do not care about your business and you will face great financial loss because of them. They do not care about their customers. Do not trust them. Softlayer does not worth anything. There are far better hosting companies.

SoftLayer was founded in 2005 and currently offers global, on-demand hosting solutions including dedicated servers, cloud computing, cloud storage and a cloud content delivery network.  Softlayer operates from eleven different datacenters across the United States.

Review

Sales

SoftLayer handles sales inquires by telephone, email and live chat. I jumped on live chat to ask about the specifics of SoftLayer’s uptime guarantee and was met by sales team member Jared in less than 60 seconds. Jared was able to answer my question and explain in greater detail the specifics of cloud hosting with SoftLayer. Excellent!

Setup

I purchased a CloudLayer Computing package that allowed me to build my own cloud. The setup and ordering is done online and was a process that took only a few moments. SoftLayer sent a receipt for my payment and the account details I needed to get started within thirty minutes of my payment being received. Again, excellent.

Billing

SoftLayer offers several billing options that can be tailored to fit your needs. The SoftLayer billing department charged my credit card monthly, as agreed upon, and I never had any trouble with inaccurate statements or difficulty cancelling my account.

Reliability

I found SoftLayer to have a high quality network and exceptional hardware. I did not experience any downtime, nor did I have any hardware issues over a six month period.

Help & Support

There’s no doubt that SoftLayer offers outstanding customer service. Whether I made contact by live chat, telephone or email, SoftLayer was always able to assist me and went well out of their way to make sure that they’d met all of my needs. My only difficulty with support was the time in which it took to get help. By telephone, it took an average of 30 minutes to reach a support team member and email support could take several hours.

Uptime

I use a premium uptime monitor to keep track of my many domains. During the six months I stayed with SoftLayer I did not experience any downtime. Extremely reliable!

Pricing

SoftLayer’s prices are slightly lower than their competitors and they extend both weekly and outlet savings to customers.
