Volusion takes sales calls by telephone, live chat and an online ticket system. I was able to connect with sales reps by phone and live chat in just a few moments, though ticket support took nearly twelve hours. I found sales reps to be polite and helpful, albeit a bit slow in answering questions, perhaps because they were juggling multiple sales calls.

Setup

New client accounts can be signed up for online. The sign-up process is simple and to the point, taking only a few moments to complete. Gold and Platinum packages can be setup the same day as sign-up if accounts are registered before 3:00pm CST, and all other accounts take one to three days to process. A bit slow, but very thorough.

Volusion accepts all major credit cards and billing support is available by live chat, telephone and ticket system. I was billed properly during my stay and had no trouble with cancelling my account.

Volusion offers five ecommerce packages, the smallest of which includes space for 100 products, one gigabyte of data transfer and hard drive space, and it runs $19.95/month. Customers with active stores may also purchase a Volusion SSL certificate at the cost of $79 per year. Volusion’s hosting specs are a little on the anemic side, but with the inclusion of free templates and no transaction fees, Volusion is offering a fair deal.

Tech support comes by trouble ticket system, live chat and telephone with Volusion. Support reps are impressively familiar with Volusion’s offerings and ecommerce, but getting that support can take some time. Only Gold and Platinum plans offer Priority Support, which includes priority call routing and shorter phone wait times. For everyone else, expect call wait times to take up to an hour and trouble tickets to be responded to in 3-48 hours. Live chat does also take support calls, but I found that I was most often asked to submit a trouble ticket anyway, even when asking simple questions that could have easily been answered. On the plus side, Volusion has extensive help files for reading on their website, most of which answer many common web hosting and ecommerce questions.
