Wirenine was founded in 2004 by two former website owners, Ali Khan and Hersh Anand , who were tired of unreliable hosting companies and desired to make a change in the industry.  Today, Wirenine has thousands of loyal customers and operates Supermicro servers out of the Softlayer Datacenters in Dallas, Texas.

Review

Sales

I set out to learn more about Wirenine’s shared hosting plans.  Specifically, I was curious about their phenomenal 60-day money back guarantee offer and whether or not they oversold their services.  Wirenine offers sales support by live chat, email, an online forum and a toll free number.  I chose the live chat option and was immediately connected with an agent who assured me that server loads never exceeded 50%, and that they did indeed honor their guaranty.  After a brief round of questions, I felt confident with the sales department and began the process of ordering my new hosting account.

Setup

It took less than ten minutes to purchase a hosting plan online with Wirenine.  The process was straightforward and simple, and within a few moments of ordering I received confirmation of my purchase.  Thirty minutes later there was a welcome letter waiting for me in my email inbox that gave instructions on how to setup my account and find support with Wirenine.  The introductory letter was thorough and easy to follow and left me with no additional questions.  I was able to begin moving my domain name and files to Wirenine less than two hours after signing up for an account.

Billing

I chose to pay for my hosting on a month to month basis.  Wirenine sends out automated reminder notices that a payment is coming due, which was helpful.  I was never billed for services that I did not order and I was completely satisfied with the Wirenine billing department.

Pricing

Wirenine’s Basic webhosting package costs $4.96 for 5gb of space and 50gb of bandwidth.  That price is well within average of other hosts offering similar services.  My only complaint here is that I did not need such a tremendous amount of space and bandwidth, and would have preferred a smaller plan option with a slightly lower cost.

Reliability

Wirenine’s server hardware was reliable and trustworthy and there was never any indication that my website was in jeopardy of going down due to machine issues.  During my stay with Wirenine, the server I was on was brought down for a RAM upgrade, several server reboots, and additional hardware upgrades without notice. Though there is a place on Wirenine’s forum for announcing scheduled downtimes, the staff at Wirenine did not notify users in advance of these instances until after the fact.  Additionally, I was not notified by email when routine maintenance or scheduled upgrades would be taking place, leaving me surprised that my website was offline without notice on several occasions.

Help & Support

I had reason to speak with Wirenine’s support team three times.  Wirenine offers support by email, an online trouble ticket system and an emergency toll free number.  I was disappointed to call the toll free number and find that they did not offer phone support.  I was able to leave a voicemail for Wirenine, but I was also directed to submit a trouble ticket or send an email for faster response.

Wirenine’s trouble ticket system and email support is admirable.  The enthusiastic support team always answered my questions in good time and gave detailed information that was helpful and polite.

Uptime

I use a premium uptime monitoring service that indicating short bursts of downtime with Wirenine, all related to scheduled, but unannounced routine maintenance and hardware upgrades.  My website was never offline due to network issues.
